Community Engagement Marketing Officer

Job Title: Community Engagement & Marketing Officer
Location: Teachers’ Credit Union Limited, Belfast
Hours: 20 hours per week
Salary: £31,280 per annum (pro-rata)
Contract: Permanent (subject to six-month probationary period)
Reporting To: Credit Union Manager


ABOUT THE ROLE

Teachers’ Credit Union Limited is a member-owned financial co-operative serving those employed within the Education & Training Sector in Northern Ireland. We are dedicated to promoting financial wellbeing, encouraging regular saving, and providing affordable and ethical loans to our members.
We are seeking a creative, proactive, and organised individual to join our small but dynamic team in the newly created role of Community Engagement & Marketing Officer. This role will focus on growing our membership base across Northern Ireland, enhancing member engagement, and promoting the Credit Union’s values, services, and benefits through both digital and in-person channels.
The successful candidate will also carry out research and analysis to support strategic development and future growth of the Credit Union.


KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Developing and implementing an effective marketing and communications strategy aligned with organisational objectives.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, universities, colleges, and employers across the education and training sector.
• Manage and update website content, social media platforms, and member communications.
• Ensure consistency, clarity, and accuracy of messaging across all communication channels.
• Carry out research, data gathering, and analysis to support strategic planning and decision-making.
• Attend and represent the Credit Union at events, meetings, and community activities within the education and training sector.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR


Essential Criteria
• A creative, motivated, and proactive individual.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a marketing, communications, or community engagement role.
• An understanding of the importance of trust, reputation, and compliance in a member-owned financial organisation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently and as part of a small team.
• Experience of collecting and using research, insight, and data to inform strategy and planning.
• Willingness and confidence to represent the Credit Union externally.
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential to fulfil the duties of the role).
• Experience of creating content for newsletters, websites, social media
• Experience with design packages such as Canva
• Competent user of IT systems, including Microsoft Office and digital communication platforms


Desirable Criteria
• Third-level qualification in marketing, communications, or a related discipline.
• Experience working within the not-for-profit, community, co-operative, or financial services sector.
• Experience of engaging with external stakeholders or partners to achieve shared objectives.
